MP bans doctor from conducting operations

Shajapur: Madhya Pradesh government has banned a Gynaecologist here from conducting surgeries till further orders following death of a woman operated by him for sterilisation.

Dr V V Jain posted at Aagar Government Hospital in the district has been barred from carrying surgeries till further orders as a 28-year-old Kali Bai, whose Family Planning operation was performed by him on January 7 during a camp at Badod, succumbed to over-bleeding on January nine, Joint Director (Health), Ujjain Division, Dr Pushpa Gupta said.

Soon after her condition deteriorated during the surgery, doctors referred Kali, a resident of Bijanagri village in the district, to Ujjain where she died during treatment, Gupta said.

A high-level inquiry would be conducted into the matter, she added.

The joint director said a ban has been imposed on Dr Jain to perform any surgical operations till the completion of the inquiry.
