MP govt to provide food coupons for BPL cardholders

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Government has decided to provide coupons or vouchers to families belonging to BPL category for purchaing foodgrains at subsidised rates.

The decision was taken at the state cabinet meeting chaired by the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan yesterday, official sources said.

The Chief Minister directed the concerned minister to make PDS more effective and ensure that it is not misused.

Briefing reporters about the outcome of the six-hour meeting held at the pictureseque Kolar Dam rest house, nearly 35 km away from the state capital, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kailash Vijaywargiya said that the government has decided to focus on PDS, Mid-day Meal, regularisation of illegal colonies and strengthening rural transport network.

Vijaywargiya said that a committee comprising Public Health Minister Anoop Mishra, Education Minister Archana Chitnis and Women and Child Development Minister Ranjana Baghel will ensure proper distribution of Mid-day meals by improving its quality, specially nutritious value.

THE CENTRE SHOULD ALSO INTODUCE FOOD COUONS FOR PDS RICE AND WHEAT TO THE BPL FAMILES.THE LEAKAGE SHOULD EB PUGGED EFFECTIVELY.TEH GOVT SPENDING THOUSNDS OF CRORES FOR THE BPL FAMILIES BUT THE LARGE SHARE IS GOING TO THE BLACKMARKTEERS.THE LOOT SHOULD BE CHECKED BY THE CENTRE.BUT IF MAY BE OUR WISH LIST AS THE UPA GOVT WOULD NOT ALLOW THE LOOT BE CHECKED.BY FOOD COUPONS DULY COMPUTERISED THE GOVT CAN TRACK IT.IT WAS ARGUED BY ALL THAT THE FOOD COUPONS SHOULD BE ISSUED FOR FOOD SECURITY ACT.
