Mumbai: Police are probing three different
angles in the murder of a bookie Zahid Mihir and his associate
Sayyed Arshad Abrar Hussain, who were shot by two unidentified
persons at Nagpada in south Mumbai, a top police officer said.
"We are probing if it was a result of money dispute
between Zahid alias Chhote Miya and some others or an outcome
of dispute among bookies," Joint Police Commissioner Rakesh
Maria said.
"We are also investigating if it is the work of the
associates of Irfan Khan, who was killed in April," he added.
Irfan Khan, who ran a Chindi gang in the city, was
allegedly killed by unidentified persons suspected to be
members of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim in April.
After Irfan's murder, his family members had alleged
that Zahid was behind the killing of Irfan as he had given
information about Zahid's illegal activities following which
police cracked down on them and he had suffered losses.
Bookie Zahid and his associate Sayyed Arshad were
yesterday shot dead from a close range allegedly by two
unidentified persons at Arab gally in Nagpada, who arrived
there in a four-wheeler, while one person was sitting in the
car.
"Sketches of the accused have been prepared," Maria said
adding that "Zahid had two assault cases against him in
different police stations."
