Patna: Maoists Tuesday blasted a community hall at Irki in Bihar's Aurangabad district on the second day of their bandh called in five states.

About 100 ultras raided the village and detonated dynamites to blow up the building, ADG (HQ) Neelmani said.

The Maoists have called the 48-hour bandh in Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Orissa and Chattisgarh to protest the arrest of their leaders Anil and Kartik.

Neelmani denied the arrest of Anil and Kartik in Bihar.

A high alert has been sounded and strict vigil is being maintained in the bordering areas of Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.

Police have intensified patrolling on the national highways, the ADG said, adding most private operators suspended their bus services from Patna to Ranchi, Hazaribagh, Jamshedpur, Daltonganj, Bokaro in Jharkhand.

Several trains passing through Bihar from Jharkhand and West Bengal are running behind schedule, railway sources said.
