Nearly 1,500 pending cases solved in mega Lok Adalat at Shimla

Shimla: Nearly 1,500 cases were on Sunday solved at mega Lok Adalat organised in Shimla to expeditiously deal with pending cases.

Altogether 193 cases under Negotiable Instrument Act (NIA) and 1,288 cases under Motor Vehicle Act (MVA) were solved in the special Lok Adalat, Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Yashwant Singh Chogal, who himself headed one of the bench, said.

Eight benches were constituted by the district and sessions judge B R Chandel for the purpose, he added.

Every bench was headed by a judicial magistrate.

NIA cases solved pertained mostly of bank cheque bouncing while those under MVA related to challans for violating traffic rules, the CJM said.

The mega Lok Adalat was organised by District Legal Service Authority, Shimla, under chairmanship of District and Sessions judge B R Chandel and Judicial Magistrate Rajeev Bali.

The purpose behind organising the special Lok Adalat was to to clear pending cases, Chogal said adding Sunday was chosen for it so that litigants would have convenience to make it.
