Agartala: Nine insurgents of the outlawed All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) have surrendered to the security forces and deposited arms and ammunition.

Police said seven insurgents of the outfit, including three women surrendered to Border Security Force (BSF) personnel here yesterday.

They deposited one ak-47 rifle, 70 live cartridges and two walki-talkies.

In a separate incident, one Ramesh Debbarma(35) and his wife Supriya surrendered to Assam Rifles at their headquarters here unconditionally.

All the insurgents were handed over to the police and after preliminary interrogation it was found that all of them had fled from their base camp at Satchhari in Sylhet district of neighbouring Bangladesh.

Earlier on August 4, eight insurgents of the same outfit had surrendered to security forces.

The ultras during interrogation said that they were facing acute shortage of funds and foods in the camp as their higher-up had reduced their salary on the plea that extortion of money through kidnapping had become zero.

The police claimed that the insurgents were feeling insecure due to the strong conter-insurgency operations in the state and search operation by the bangladesh security forces in their soil.
