New Delhi: Two more low-floor DTC buses on Saturday caught fire in separate incidents in the capital, raising question over safety of passengers travelling in these vehicles as the city government instituted an inquiry into the mishaps.

Today's incidents, one near Prahaladpur in south Delhi and another near Akshardham flyover in east Delhi, happened within a month of four such low-floor CNG buses of Delhi Transport Corporation catching fire in the capital.

A bus plying between the Badarpur border and Gurgaon in Haryana accidentally caught fire in the morning near Prahaladpur, while another bus plying between Noida and Karol Bagh faced similar tragedy near Akshardham, police said. However, nobody was injured in the incidents.

Delhi government instituted an inquiry into today's incidents, official sources said. It has already started separate inquiry into the earlier mishaps.

Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, however, sought to downplay today's incidents, but said that she has convened a high level review meeting on Monday to discuss the problems in the low floor buses.

"There was no fire. Some minor problems had taken place. We have called a high level review meeting on Monday to discuss the problems in the low floor buses," Dikshit told reporters.

Long live corruption in India, we have these buses in europe always. Never heard of fire in buses. May be high time Supreme court gives strict judjement to curb corruption in trafic authority and inspectors givign clean chit to run the deffected or substandard buses.
