government has sanctioned 19,304 gas connections under Deepam
Scheme to the East Godavari District, Joint Collector K
Sasidhar said today.
Sasidhar said that the State Government has now laid new
rules and regulations to release gas connections under the
scheme with revenue officials and panchayats given the task of
deciding the eligible persons to get new gas connections.
The government has cancelled 17,035 gas connections that
were sanctioned earlier and released 19,304 new connections
that conform to the new norms.
The concerned officials now prepare a list of
beneficiaries based on their eligibility. Connections under
the new scheme are generally given to those who are Below
Poverty Line (BPL) and those who are entitled to get benefits
under schemes like Anthodaya Anna Yogajana and thosse who are
handicapped.
