Gwalior: Police and state administration officials here continue to be tight-lipped about the theft of a silver plate from the Rani Mahal Palace of the Scindia's three days back.

The small silver plate valued not more than Rs 1500 may have been stolen due to intense rivalry between officials and employees working in the palace, sources in the palace said.

The rivalry between the two groups is such that both the factions is always on the look out for opportunities to downplay the other.

A police official connected with the investigation into the theft of the silver plate said that till now, some employees of the Rani Mahal palace had already been interrogated in connection with it.

Rani Mahal palace is a part of the Jai Vilas Palace and Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, his aunt and MP from Gwalior Yashodhara Raje Scindia and mother Madhavi Raje Scindia stay in it.

A couple of months ago, some theft had been committed from the Jai Vilas Palace which is locked and this had also figured prominently in the news.
