Jaipur: Rajasthan Governor Prabha Rau on Monday said revenue collection in the state till January this year had increased more than 11 percent as compared to previous fiscal.
In her address to the state assembly on the first day
of the budget session, Rau said Rajasthan had come out of the
sick category state and earned Rs 1072.91 crore from
Registration and Stamp Duty in this year.
In the current fiscal till January 2010, the state
government earned a revenue of Rs 8,180.60 crore which was 11.
33 percent more than the previous fiscal, Rau said.
Due to better financial outlay, the Planning
Commission had approved an annual plan of Rs 17322 crore for
Rajasthan and added that with better resources it was
converted in the budget to Rs 18,634.80 crore, she said.
With better fiscal management and recoveries, every
department under finance made profit, the governor said.
The state was also heading towards self-reliance in
power sector with power generation at 7732 mw in the near
future and working on 1320 mw each of two super-critical
thermal power stations at Suratgarh and Chabra, she said.
In her one hour and five minute uninterrupted speech,
she also spoke on higher education, agriculture, irrigation,
medical and health, NREGA, child and women development, rural
development, industry, tourism, transport, law and order,
religious tourism and public distribution system among others.
