Raman Singh to take oath on Dec 12

Raipur, Dec 10: Many top BJP leaders will be present in the swearing-in ceremony of Raman Singh on December 12 here.

According to party sources, Raman Singh alone would take oath as Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh on December 12. A decision on the formation of his cabinet would be taken latter. The oath taking ceremony will be held at Police Parade ground at 11 am.

Chhattisgarh BJP unit spokesperson Saroj Pandey said several senior party leaders including the party's national president would be present in the swearing-in ceremony.

"Party National President Rajnath Singh, Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Ravishankar Prasad, BJP MPs Hema Malini and Navjot Singh Sidhu, Smriti Irani and Chhattisgarh party in-charge Dharmendra Pradhan will be present in the swearing-in ceremony," she said.

Pandey said the arrival of party's Prime Ministerial candidate Lal Krishna Advani for the occasion has not yet been confirmed.

In Chhattisgarh assembly polls, BJP has got a comfortable majority by winning 50 seats out of 90.

Raman Singh was elected as the leader of BJP legislative party at the state party head quarters on Wednesday and claimed the governor to form the next government of Chhattisgarh.

CLP leader to be selected on Saturday

Newly elected MLAs of Congress party would meet here on Saturday to select the Congress Legislative Party (CLP) leader, said party sources.

Satyanarayan Sharma, working president, Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CPCC) said three leaders from Centre, B K Hariprasad, Janardhan Dwivedi and Narayan Sami will observe the proceedings of the meeting.

With the outgoing leader of Opposition Mahendra Karma and deputy leader of Opposition in the Assembly Bhupesh Baghel, both belonging to anti-Ajit Jogi camp, failing to make it to the Assembly this time, it is expected that a Jogi loyalist may be elected as the CLP leader.
