New Delhi: Congress on Friday said the Supreme Court direction to Uttar Pradesh on stoppage of all further construction activities at the Kanshi Ram Memorial Sthal in Lucknow showed the lopsided priorities of Mayawati government.

"This showed how lopsided are the priorities of the Mayawati government as it has allocated Rs 3.25 crore each to Poorvanchal and Bundelkhand regions, Rs 200 crore for drought and Rs 545 crore for erecting statues," Congress spokesman Manish Tewari told reporters here.

The Supreme Court has questioned the "reasonableness" of the UP government in making the allocation, he said.

Tewari said those who violate the Supreme Court directives should be prepared to face the consequences.

PP TALWAR - India
It is strange that ignoring public uproar and Supreme court`s intervention, UP CM Mayawati is misusing tax payer`s money with a view to satisfy her Dalit ego in creating massive Parks on public prime land in UP, Lucknow and Noida where statues of herself, her mentor Kanshi Ram and other dalit leaders are being installed. UP being a backward state lacks industrial, educational and good roads, electricity and water supply to the rural people. UP CM Mayawati being custodian of public funds should spend public funds for the welfare of the people of the state and not misuse it in constructing Parks and statues of dalit leaders.
