Panaji: Scarlett Eden Keeling's mother Fiona Mackeown is in the second set of witnesses to testify for death of her daughter when the trial begins on April 5 in Goa court.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has chargesheeted two locals in this case, reported two years ago, and will present the first set of ten witnesses comprising five policemen and rest locals.
"Fiona and Scarlett's Spanish friend Ruby Caso, who spent time with her hours before her death would testify before Goa children’s court in the second set of witnesses," CBI counsel S Rivonkar told today.
The prosecution expects to get the verdict in this case by this year end. Fiona is expected to be called to remain present in the court to give witness while Ruby is likely to appear through video-conferencing.
Deceased's boyfriend, Julio Lobo, will also be examined, Rivonkar said.
Scarlett’s bruised semi nude corpse was found on Anjuna shore on February 18, 2008, after which two locals Samson D’Souza and Placido Carvalho, were chargesheeted by the
CBI.
CBI during the trial is expected to revisit the entire case by presenting it before the judge through witnesses, in a sequence manner, who saw Scarlett’s body on the shore.
"We are sure that witnesses will not turn hostile and case will be prosecuted smoothly," Rivonkar said.
