Coimbatore: Seven persons, including a college student, were arrested today in connection with the murder of an elderly couple in Somanur in the district a week
ago.
A special police team arrested the seven, including Arif, a 20-year old B.com student, on murder charge. Three more persons were absconding, police said.
An 87-year old man and his 80-year old wife were strangulated at their house on the night of Apri 8 by a gang that also decamped with and 10.5 sovereigns of gold ornaments and Rs.18,000 in cash.
The gang was said to be involved in a series of crimes, they said.
