Panaji, July 12: Shantaram Naik, Rajya Sabha MP from Goa, on Sunday said he will raise the incidences of idol desecration in Parliament.

"Despite police's efforts to curb them, more and more incidents of idol desecration are coming to fore," Naik said.

I will raise the issue in Parliament next week, he said.

Naik was perturbed after recent incidents of desecrating idol at a temple in South Goa. He said although the concerned issue is a state subject, there appears to be a "larger conspiracy" of which Parliament should also be made aware of.

Naik before leaving for New Delhi visited Mahalakshmi Temple at Girdolim Temple, where last week a clay idol inside the sanctum sanatorium of the Temple was broken.

The state has witnessed around 30 incidents of idol desecrations. The state police have formed a special squad to nail the accused involved in such incidents.
