Shillong: Massive security was in place in Shillong in view of Congress president Sonia Gandhis visit to Meghalaya's capital tomorrow.

"We have put maximum forces. All the places she will visit have been turned into high security pockets," DGP SB Kakati said.

Additional police personnel have been deployed since yesterday on main roads through which Gandhi?s motorcade will pass.

An SPG team has arrived in the city and is overseeing security arrangements.

Securitymen, accompanied by bomb squads and sniffer dogs, were patrolling the streets and sanitizing the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute for Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) campus, Polo Ground and the vicinity of Don Bosco Museum where the Congress president will visit.

Bamboo barricades have also been erected along the roads Gandhi will travel. Gandhi will stay in Shillong Raj Bhavan overnight and fly to Aizawl next morning morning.

During her visit she will formally inaugurate the NEIGRIHMS, address a rally at the Polo Grounds and visit the Don Bosco Museum besides interacting with senior party members.
