Srinagar: The exhumation of bodies of Shopian rape and murder victims, scheduled for Sunday, was deferred by a day as a team of experts from Delhi failed to arrive here on Saturday, official sources said.
The bodies of Asiya (17) and her sister-in-law Neelofar
(22) were to exhume tomorrow but was deferred by a day as a
team of senior doctors from New Delhi's All India Institute of
Medical Sciences (AIIMS) could not make it on Saturday, they said.
The two were raped and killed in Shopian during the
intervening night of May 29-30.
The CBI, which took over the case from state's Special
Investigation Team (SIT) recently, had sought permission from
the victims' family members and that of a local court for
exhumation of the bodies.
