Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir High Court today granted permission to CBI to speak to the media about the investigations conducted by it into the death of the two women in Shopian district of South Kashmir on May 30.

The direction came in response to the plea from CBI counsel Anil Bhan seeking permission of the court for speaking to the media.

Bhan informed the court that in view of its directions CBI had not spoken to the media about the investigations into the case but were facing a lot of queries from media persons.

He pleaded that permission may be granted as CBI had filed the chargesheet in the designated court of law.

Chief Justice Barin Gosh while granting the permission, however, said, "something or other has been coming in the media (about the Shopian case) investigation everyday."

On September 30, the court had directed CBI not to reveal anything to the press and the people who are not connected with the investigation.

"And CBI should file regular status reports to the court and it is the court that will decide what is to be revealed to the press," Justice Gosh had said.
