Bhopal: Congress General Secretary and
former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh here
on Saturday said that Samajwadi Party should not have fielded its
candidate for the Firozabad Lok Sabha by-poll as Congress has
already declared its candidate for the seat.
Responding to a query on party General Secretary Rahul
Gandhi's campaign in Firozabad and Samajwadi Patry's criticism
on the issue for the first time as both parties avoided
attacking each other, Singh said, "there is nothing like that.
"Actually we have fielded our candidate
actor-turned-politician Raj Babbar before and therefore they
(SP) should not have fielded anyone against us," Singh said.
The former Chief Minister was talking to reporters
after distributing "Prashant Award" constituted in memory of
noted journalist Prashant Saxena, who died in a road accident
in Hyderabad.
"We are winning the Firozabad seat," he said, when
asked about the outcome.
On the issue of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj
Singh Chouhan not being able to allocate portfolios to the
newly inducted ministers since last three days, Singh remarked
"the gang has managed to come back." (referring to the tainted
ministers' induction).
Earlier, addressing the function on the occasion of
Indira Gandhi's death anniversary described her as a firm and
determined leader who had taken many bold decision in favour
of the country.
Madhya Pradesh Urban Development Minister Babulal
Gaur and senior Congress leader Ajay Singh were also present
on the occasion.
