Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister
Mayawati on Friday directed the officials of state health
department to take "pre-emptive" measures to check the spread
of contagious diseases due to flood-like situation in several
districts of the state.
According to the official release, issued here after
a review meeting of the health department, the Chief Minister
asked officials to initiate measures to check the spread of
infectious diseases caused due to contamination of water and
set up teams of doctors equipped with required medicines and
equipments to effectively deal with any such eventuality.
She stressed that in case of an outbreak of
communicable diseases, the concerned Chief Medical Officers
(CMOs) would be held responsible.
She said her government was committed to provide
quality medical services to the people through government
hospitals.
"For this purpose, 5,000 doctors are being appointed
and efforts are on to post them near their home districts so
that they can work without any stress", she said.
