Terror suspects sent to JC till April 13

Mumbai: Two persons arrested by Maharashtra police on charges of suspected terror links, were on Thursday remanded to judicial custody till April 13.

Abdul Latif Rashid and Riyaz Ali Imtiaz were in police custody for questioning since their arrest on March 13 for allegedly planning to carry out terror attacks in the metropolis.

According to the anti-terror squad officials, the duo was in touch with a person in Pakistan addressed as 'Uncle', who is suspected to be Abdul Bashir Khan, an absconding accused in the 1993 serial bomb blasts and a close aide of prime conspirator of the blasts Tiger Memon.

The duo was directed by the 'uncle' to recruit youths and arrange for them to be sent to Pakistan for training and to carry out terror attacks in India, police said.

The ATS had produced both the accused before the Mazgaon metropolitan magistrate, who remanded them to judicial custody.

The duo had allegedly conducted recee of three targets - headquarters of public sector petroleum company ONGC, Thakkar Mall in suburban Mumbai and Mangaldas Market in south Mumbai.
