Sitapur: At least 24 people were killed and
22 injured, some seriously, when a tractor-trolley in which
they were travelling plunged into a gorge in Sitapur district
of Uttar Pradesh, police said today.
The accident happened last night at Pisawan near Bargawa
village, they said adding 12 people died instantly and another
12 succumbed to injuries in hospitals today.
The bodies were handed over to the bereaved families
after post mortem, police said.
The accident occurred when the drive of the ill-fated
tractor-trolley tried to overtake another vehicle, Circle
Officer Mishrik M P Singh said.
