Lucknow: In a setback to Bhartiya Janta Party, two of its members in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council, Rakesh Pratap Singh and Manish Jaiswal, on Saturday joined the ruling Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).

While Rakesh Pratap Singh represents Rae Bareli, Manish Jaiswal is an MLC from Basti and their term in the upper house will expire on January 15 next year, BSP sources said here.

"The two MLCs joined BSP this morning and said they will be dedicated workers," party sources said.

The two leaders were unhappy over the BJP's "communal ideology and divisive politics", they said.
