Aligarh: The Aligarh Muslim University
(AMU) on Tuesday said that the fact-finding committee constituted
by the President of India was not aimed at its vice-chancellor
P K Abdul Aziz.
The fact-finding committee was constituted by President
Pratibha Patil following certain complaints regarding alleged
financial irregularities in the central university and to
probe them.
"We welcome the constitution of the fact-finding
committee, as it will clear the air on the AMU campus and
unravel the truth," AMU VC Aziz told agency.
"As far as the allegations levelled regarding financial
irregularities are concerned, it is pertinent to point out
that all the accounts had been audited by the auditors of
Principal Accountant General, Indian Audit and Accounts
department," he said.
Aziz said that the university administration was fully
committed to the welfare of the students and teachers and to
ensure protection to them.
"Every step is being taken to keep the university on
the right track," he said.
Admissions to more than 300 courses including
professional courses had been done on merit and holding of
admission tests at five centres across the country had evoked
tremendous response, the vice-chancellor pointed out.
