Aligarh: The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) on Tuesday said that the fact-finding committee constituted by the President of India was not aimed at its vice-chancellor P K Abdul Aziz.

The fact-finding committee was constituted by President Pratibha Patil following certain complaints regarding alleged financial irregularities in the central university and to probe them.

"We welcome the constitution of the fact-finding committee, as it will clear the air on the AMU campus and unravel the truth," AMU VC Aziz told agency.

"As far as the allegations levelled regarding financial irregularities are concerned, it is pertinent to point out that all the accounts had been audited by the auditors of Principal Accountant General, Indian Audit and Accounts department," he said.

Aziz said that the university administration was fully committed to the welfare of the students and teachers and to ensure protection to them.

"Every step is being taken to keep the university on the right track," he said.

Admissions to more than 300 courses including professional courses had been done on merit and holding of admission tests at five centres across the country had evoked tremendous response, the vice-chancellor pointed out.

Dr P K Abdul Azis, VC, AMU, is lying that he has been given a clean chit by the Principal Accountant General. Interestingly, Expenditure Audit Report sent to AMU vide AB (C) 09-10/248 dt. 17.11.2009 by Office of Principal Accountant General (Audit), UP, Allahabad, says that “there was complete collapse of financial management and VC [Dr P K Abdul Azis] and Registrar [Prof. V K Abdul Jaleel] instead of stopping this frequently financial irregularity, themselves became part of this”! Extracts of the report can be accessed at www.amutimes.blogspot.com.

Autocratic misuse of power by Dr. Azis at CUSAT.

The sub-committee after a detailed study submitted a report to the Syndicate with the following recommendations:

(ii) The power of removal of a Dean under the law is vested in the Syndicate. In the case of Dr. K.P.Rajappan Nair this power came to be exercised by the Vice Chancellor and the action was not ratified by the Syndicate subsequently. The office of the Vice Chancellor should ensure that such instances are not repeated in future without bringing it to the notice of the Syndicate.

The syndicate subcommittee report says that Dr. P.K. Abdul Azis, Present VC of AMU who is facing enquiry there did autocratically used the power of syndicate without authority and not even reported it. The enquiry was conducted by the syndicate members who were syndicate members when Dr. Azis was the VC at CUSAT.

The real fact is that even the Syndicate do not have the power to remove a DEAN.

This is his respect for rules.
