Nagaon (Assam): A 20-year-old woman was
arrested at Hatigaon area here for marrying a 14-year-old
girl, with whom she had gone missing last month, police said
here on Wednesday.
The woman, Rupa Bania of Ranthali village, was arrested
while the girl Jimpi Hazarika was handed over to her parents,
they said.
The parents had lodged a complaint with the police after
the duo went missing on March three.
The girls told the police that they had married at Tezpur
and their marriage was not illegal as per a ruling of the
Supreme Court.
