Patna: Karnataka Chief Minister B S
Yeddyurappa on Friday assured his Bihar counterpart Nitish Kumar
of "all precautionary measures" to prevent recurrence of July
five like attacks on the students visiting Bangalore and other
Karnataka cities for appearing in exams for jobs.
In a letter faxed to Kumar, the copy of which was also
released to the press here, Yeddyurappa informed that some
Karnataka Rakshana Vedike activists had unauthorisedly entered
the examination centres in Bangalore and Mysore on July 5 last
where the examination for ticket collectors and commercial
clerks was being conducted by the Railway Recruitment Board
and for a few minutes disrupted the examination.
During these incidents, some students appearing for the
examination were affected and action was separately initiated
to enable the students to reappear for the examination
subsequently, he said in his letter.
"Majority of the candidates affected in the incidents
came from Karnataka and only a couple of them were from North
India," he said, describing the incidents as "sudden and
unexpected."
He further informed that the police officers have taken
immediate action to arrest the activists involved in the
incidents and have registered the cases against them. MORE
"I have given strict instructions to the Director
General of Police and other police officers to take stringent
action against such anti-social elements and not not to allow
such incidents to repeat anywhere in the state," he said,
assuring that proper protection would be given to the people
residing in Karnataka irrespective of their place of origin.
