Finance minister among 100 to file papers for TN Assembly poll

Chennai: Senior DMK leader and Tamil Nadu Finance Minister K Anbazhagan was among over 100 candidates who filed their nominations on Saturday for the April 13 Assembly polls, official sources said.

Accompanied by party workers, the DMK General Secretary filed his nomination papers at Villivakkam from where he is contesting.

Rural Industries Minister Pongalur N Palinisamy filed his papers from Coimbatore (south) constituency.

DMK candidate M Magesh Kumar, who is in the fray from Saidapet constituency, also filed his papers, sources said.

Earlier in the day, Governor S S Barnala issued a notification calling for nominations to elect the new Assembly.

The 234-member Tamil Nadu Assembly goes to poll on the same day along with 140-member Kerala Assembly and 30-member Puducherry.
