Madurai: Senior BJP Leader L K Advani today
offered worship at the famous Sri Meenakshi Amman temple and
said he is struck by the beauty, splendour and spirituality of
the temple.
Advani, who visited the temple along with his wife and
daughter, said they decided to visit the temple on their way
back from Rameswaram as his wife and daughter had not seen the
temple.
Quoting Jawaharlal Nehru, Advani said Nehru during his
visit to the city to participate in a Congress session had
remarked that the practice of people from North India visiting
temples in the South and those from the Southern states
visiting temples in the North "is a great silver bond of
culture."
Nehru had said places of pilgrimage like Meenakshi temple
had greatly contributed to unifying the people of the country.
He was received by Temple Executive Officer in-charge
Sudharsanam.
BJP State leaders Pon Radhakrishnan and H Raja
accompanied Advani.
