Chennai: In the wake of the en masse eviction
of the Opposition DMDK from the Tamil Nadu Assembly, DMK
President M Karunanidhi today said the ruling AIADMK had its
own "unique" way of handling opposition parties.
"AIADMK has its own unique way of handling the opposition
parties. That is being followed now also," he said in response
to reporters` queries about complaints from opposition MLAs
that they were not given adequate time to speak.
He declined to comment on Jayalalithaa`s statment that she
regretted aligning with DMDK for the April 13, 2011 polls, in
which DMK was defeated by AIADMK-led combine, comprising DMDK
and Left parties besides some other small outfits. DMK not
only lost, but was pushed to the third spot in the Assembly,
making DMDK the main Opposition party.
Earlier in the day, DMDK members including its founder,
actor-politician Vijayakanth, were evicted from the Assembly,
following a war of words between Jayalalithaa and the former.
