Puducherry: AIADMK on Friday demanded adjournment
of the current budget session of the Puducherry assembly in
view of the Election Commission announcing dates for the
bypoll to the Indiranagar Assembly constituency.
Neither the Chief Minister N Rangasamy and his ministerial
colleagues can make any announcements in the assembly as the
model code of conduct was came into existence. Hence the
current budget session of assembly should be adjourned, AIADMK
leader A Anbalagan, MLA, told reporters here.
The byelection is slated for October 13 and the counting of
votes has been scheduled for October 17.

The bypoll was necessitated after Chief Minister N
Rangasamy, who emerged victorious from both Indira Nagar and
Kadirkkam constituencies in the April 13 assembly elections,
retained Kadirkkam and quit the other seat.
