Chennai: Union Chemicals and Fertilisers Minister and DMK leader MK Alagiri on Thursday rejected an allegation by a Tamil Nadu Minister that he was involved in illegal granite business and challenged him to prove his charge or quit his Assembly membership.

Industries Minister SP Velumani had yesterday alleged in the Assembly that Alagiri had swindled huge sums of money in granite business.

"The Minister should prove his charges or own responsibility for his false allegations", he said in a statement here while stating that he was never involved in granite business.

Alagiri, son of DMK President M Karunanidhi, said he had written a letter to Assembly Speaker (D Jayakumar) to ask the concerned Minister to provide proof and evidence for his allegation.

He said if the Minister failed to do so, he would initiate legal action against him.
