Chennai: Eighteen people fasting here in support of Anna Hazare since August 16 ended their protest on Friday morning on the request of Team Anna member Arvind Kejriwal.
"On the advice of Kejriwal, the fast is being concluded," said Bhavana Upadhyaya of India Against Corruption (IAC), the network behind Hazare's campaign for an effective anti-corruption law.
Kejriwal asked them to end their fast in view of their failing health.
At one point, there were 40 hunger strikers but many withdrew owing to health problems. The protesters, however, felt that the battle that began with Hazare's arrest August 16 had not ended.
