Thrissur: The proposal to ban entry of
policemen inside the famous Lord Krishna temple at Guruvayur will create chaos, a social organisation, here said.

Secreary of the `Janasevana Munnani`, a social
organisation, K Soman Pillai, said in a statement here today
that avoiding policemen on duty inside the temple would create
a lot of difficulties for the devotees visiting the temple in
general and especially during the Sabarimala season from Nov
15 to Jan 16 every year.

He threatened to go on fast from Nov
15 if the temple authorties do not reconsider their decision.

It was estimated that over five million devotees from
Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Pondicherry,
Maharashtra and Delhi visit the temple either on their way to
Sabarimala or return during the pilgrimage season, he said.

Pillai said there are long queues of devotees every
day in the temple and if policemen are not deployed inside the
shrine, pick pockets and anti social elements would create
chaos, he added.
