Chennai: Tamil Nadu government has geared up
its machinery to prevent any untoward incident during
tomorrow`s `bharat bandh` called by the opposition parties to
protest the fuel price hike, police said today.

All important public places, including railway stations,
airports and bus stands, would be provided police protection,
they said, adding protection would be provided to running
buses, if necessary.

The government had warned of severe action against those
who attempt to disrupt normal life.

AIADMK, Left parties and their allies, besides BJP have
called for the strike. PMK, an erstwhile ally of DMK, has
decided against participating in the strike, describing it as
politically motivated.
