Maduravoyal: A businessman was injured in a shootout here on Tuesday, police said.
Identifying the victim as Manikumar (35), a resident of Krishna Nagar in the locality, police said he was into real estate business and also owned a CD/DVD shop.
The incident happened in the wee hours of today when neighbours of a house where Manikumar`s friends were staying heard a loud noise and immediately informed police.
A police team found him with a bullet injury in the chest and rushed him to a nearby private hospital where he was being treated. He used to frequent the place where his friends were staying.
One of them had been detained for interrogation even as another person was missing, police said, adding, investigation was being carried out from all angles.
Some unused bullets were recovered from the spot but the weapon used in the crime was not traced, they added.
