Chennai: As part of preparing for the Sankarankoil (SC) by-poll, DMK chief M Karunanidhi will analyse his party's prospects with ticket aspirants on Friday.

"Kalaignar (Karunanidhi) will meet those who had applied to contest the election on February 17 and discuss the prevailing conditions in the constituency and (DMK's) victory prospects," party general secretary K Anbazhagan said.

Office-bearers including Tirunelveli District secretary and others would be present for the interview, he said in a statement here.

By-poll for Sankarankoil was necessitated following the death of AIADMK Minister C Karuppasamy last year.

AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa has nominated V Muthuselvi, Chairperson of Sanakrankoil Municipality, as her party candidate. The MDMK has also announced it will contest the by-election.

The Election Commission, however, is yet to announce the poll schedule.

SURPRISING POLITICAL PARTIES IN TN ARE CONTESTING SANKARANKOIL ASSEMBLY BY POLL. JAYA HAS ALL HER MINISTERS REVENUE STAFF,POLICE AND ALL POLL RELATED STAFF CAMPING THERE FOR MORE THAN A MONTH NOW. THE PEOPLE OF THIS CONSTITUENCY ARE LIVING IN PARADISE WITH ALL THEIR DEMANDS MET AND THE MINISTERS WILL NOT HESISTATE EVEN TO CLEAN GARBAGE OR LICK THEIR FEET TO BUY VOTES.UNOFFICIAL REPORTS CONFIRM SO FAR MORE THAN 20,000 RUPEES HAVE BEEN SPENT ON EACH VOTER WITH PROMISES OF MANY JOBS AND FACILITIES NOTHING SHORT OF THE SUN AND MOON. IT WOULD BE WISE FOR ALL POLITICAL PARTIES TO BOYCOTT SUCH CHEAP ELECTIONS ESPECIALLY AS THE ELECTION COMMISSION OF TN IS DUMB DEAF AND BLIND WHERE THE AIADMK IS CONCERNED.
