Centre dismisses Jaya`s charge; says TN received enough support

The Centre Saturday dismissed Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa`s charge that it was following a negative approach on critical issues.

Chennai: The Centre Saturday dismissed Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa`s charge that it was following a negative approach on critical issues and said the State has received adequate financial support from it.

"In particular, compared to other States, the Centre has given financial support to Tamil Nadu for development of ports, capacity generation whether it is at Neyveli Lignite Corporation or at Tuticorin Thermal power Corporation", Minister of State in PMO V Narayanasamy told reporters at the Airport.

Yesterday, Jayalalithaa charged the Centre with working hard to take away the rights of the States one after another and whenever a letter was written to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh only a routine acknowledgement was received.
She had said the Centre refused to allocate additional power to the state by adopting a "negative approach". It was adopting a similar approach on the Mullaperiyar Dam issue, over which the state is locked in a row with Kerala.
