Bangalore: A special court trying the disproportionate assets case against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Monday adjourned to February 9, the proceedings against her close aide and co-accused Sasikala Natarajan.

Judge BM Mallikarjunaiah orally directed that recording of Sasikala's statement under section 313 of the CrPC be done on February 9, subject to the orders to be passed by the Karnataka High Court on her plea seeking translated versions of questions framed by the court in Tamil.

On January 25, the High Court had reserved its orders on the petition. Earlier, on December 19, Justice of BV Pinto had granted six weeks interim stay on the proceedings against Sasikala in the special court.

The case relates to accumulation of wealth allegedly disproportionate to Jayalalithaa's known sources of income when she was Chief Minister in 1991-96.

The court had completed recording Jayalalithaa's statement in November last year.
