Chennai: Arch rivals DMK and AIADMK on Monday
sparred in the Tamil Nadu Assembly following controversial
remarks made by members against the chiefs of the two
respective parties, M Karunanidhi and J Jayalalithaa.
The dispute started when AIADMK member S S Krishnamoorthy,
participating in the debate on interim budget, passed some
remarks against DMK president and Chief Minister M Karunanidhi
besides touching upon some other controversial issues.
His comments drew strong reactions from the Treasury
benches and more than one minister made counter-points against
Jayalalithaa, which was objected to by the Opposition AIADMK.
Following noisy scenes, Speaker R Avudiyappan ordered the
remarks made by either camps to be expunged.
