Chennai: DMK president M Karunanidhi Thursday
congratulated Chief Ministers of Punjab and Manipur, Parkash Singh Badal and O Ibobi Singh, respectively, for their poll victory in these states.
In a telegram to Badal, whose SAD-BJP combine retained their hold, Karunanidhi said voters had reposed their faith in the leader through the electoral mandate.
"With your long and varied experience, I am quite confident that you will provide an excellent governance to the people of
Punjab," he said while wishing Badal good health and
happiness.
He expressed confidence that expectations and aspirations
of people of Punjab will be fulfilled during Badal`s stint as
Chief Minister.
In a separate message to Badal`s son Sukhbir Singh, President of Akali Dal, Karunanidhi said the party stood for
the uplift of poor and downtrodden, adding, his father always
was at the forefront of protecting backward classes and
minorities.
In his message to Ibobi Singh, Karunanidhi greeted him for
his "brilliant victory," and expressed confidence that Singh
would provide ?xcellent "governance" to the people.
