Chennai: DMK Deputy general decretary and
former Tamil Nadu Minister Parithi Ilamvazhuthi on Saturday resigned
from his party post protesting against readmission given to
some party workers suspended for anti-party activities.
In a letter to DMK chief M Karunanidhi, he said certain
actions by the party high command had "wounded his
self-respect."
"I am quitting from the Deputy General Secretary`s post,"
he said in the letter.
Ilamvazhuthi, a long time associate of DMK Treasurer and
former Deputy Chief Minister M K Stalin, was piqued by the
revoking of suspension of some party functionaries, sources
close to him said.
Ilamvazhuthi could not be contacted after submitting his
resignation.
DMK sources confirming receipt of the letter, said no
decision has been taken on that.
