Chennai: DMK members Friday staged a walkout in the Tamil Nadu Assembly after they were denied permission to discuss an issue by the Speaker.

Soon after Jayalalithaa made a suo motu statement in the House, DMK members sought to discuss an issue for which Speaker P Dhanapal denied permission citing the rule that there can be no discussion on a statement read under Section 110 of the Assembly rules.

DMK members` words were not taken into Assembly records.

After unsuccessfully attempting to get the Speaker`s permission, DMK members staged the walkout.
