Engineering student from Jharkhand murdered

An engineering student hailing from Jharkhand was killed here today in a group rivalry over payment of commission for engineering seats in some private engineering institutions in Tamil Nadu, police said.

Jharkhand was killed here today in a group rivalry over
payment of commission for engineering seats in some private
engineering institutions in Tamil Nadu, police said.

Nirbhay Kumar Singh (21) was killed allegedly by a group of
students belonging to another engineering college over a
dispute on admitting students in some private engineering
institutions in the state for a commission in which they were
involved.

Police said he was riding a two-wheeler when the other
students, who were travelling in car, stopped and attacked
him on a road in Neelankarai locality. The assailants also
hailed from Jharkhand,sources said.

Singh, who was hit with an iron bar, was rushed to a
hospital where he was declared brought dead, police said.

The victim and the other students were residing in the
same locality.

Two persons have been detained for investigation.
