Gang decamps with three kg gold in Coimbatore

 A four-member gang today waylaid a van carrying gold ingots near here and decamped with three kg gold, police said.

Coimbatore: A four-member gang today waylaid a van carrying gold ingots near here and decamped with three kg gold, police said.

According to the complaint lodged by those who were taking the gold ingots to a jewellery store here, four persons on two motorcycles, waylaid their vehicle at Peelamedu and after attacking them, fled with the bags containing the gold, police said.

It also contained a few kg of silver, they said.

Senior police officials, led by Commissioner, A K Vishwanathan, are investigating the matter.
