Gold seized from passengers in Chennai

Customs officials on Saturday recovered seven kg gold allegedly concealed by two passengers who arrived from Singapore Saturday morning.



Chennai: Customs officials on Saturday recovered seven kg gold allegedly concealed by two passengers who arrived from Singapore Saturday morning.

According to airport officials, Syed Abu Thahir and Haja Alaudeen, both residents of Chennai, allegedly concealed the seven kg of precious metal in their hand baggage.

The seized gold was worth Rs 2.5 crore.

The two were nabbed on prior information, officials said.
