Madurai: The Madras High Court bench on Friday directed a petitioner to implead the state Forest Minister`s Personal Assistant as a respondent in the case relating to murder of a forest department employee and his wife last year.
The court gave the direction on a petition by P Murugesan, uncle of the murdered employee, seeking to transfer the case to CBI.
The prosecution case was that the couple were shot dead by a man on Sagayam`s orders on November 10, 2011 near Nagercoil.
The petitioner contended that the case had been foisted on Sagayam by the Investigating Officer, Additional Deputy Superintendent of Police Dharmaraj due to `political rivalry`.
The real offenders could be traced only if CBI investigated the case, he said, adding there had been no response from the Government to transfer the case to CBI.
Justice K K Sasidharan directed the petitioner to implead Sagayam and posted the case to next week for further hearing.
