Madurai: Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court
on Wednesday ordered issue of notice to Janata Party chief
Subramanian Swamy and party`s Tamil Nadu President on a plea
by an advocate seeking a direction for action against them as
their supporters were allegedly threatening him.
The petitioner had filed a criminal original petition
alleging that he was facing threats to his life from
Swamy`s supporters and that police had not taken any action on
the non-bailable warrant against a local Janata Party
functionary Karunakaran in this regard for the past one year.
He had filed a criminal case against Karunakaran and
another person for allegedly threatening him on Jun 4, 2008.
The High Court had remitted the case back to the trial
court after it set aside a Judicial Magistrate order saying
the investigation had not been carried out in a proper
manner.It had directed the inspector to re-investigate the
case on Jan 8,2010. But the respondent did not re-investigate,
the petitioner contended.
The petitioner, who is also Managing trustee of People
Rights Security council,an NGO, said his life was in danger.He
had sent several representation to the DGP, State Home
Secretary,and Commissioner of Police, Madurai,but no action
had been taken.Hence the court should direct them to take
action against Swamy and party`s state President Chandralekha,
Justice R Mala, admitting the petition, ordered issue of
