Homage paid to Rajiv Gandhi in Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah Wednesday paid floral tribute to former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi on his 23rd death anniversary.

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah Wednesday paid floral tribute to former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi on his 23rd death anniversary.

He also administered an anti-terrorism pledge to officers and staff of the Raj Bhavan here.

Anti-terrorism Day is observed May 21, the day on which former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated.

Pilot-turned-politician Rajiv Gandhi was killed May 21, 1991 at an election rally in Sriperumbudur when a young Tamil Tiger woman guerrilla, strapped with explosives, blew herself up near him.

Congressmen in Tamil Nadu paid floral tributes to Rajiv Gandhi at the party`s state headquarters here.
