Income ceiling for marriage assistance schemes increased

Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa has announced increasing the ceiling from Rs 24,000 to Rs 72,000 for benefiaries, mainly women, a state government release here said.

Chennai: With a view to cover more beneficaries under different marriage assistance schemes, Tamil Nadu government on Friday announced increasing the annual income ceiling of families for this purpose.

The income ceiling was revised as many poor families could not apply for the marriage schemes such as Dr Dharmambal Widow Remarriage Assitance, it said.

The state government also implements other schemes to promote inter-caste marriages and to help destitutes.
