Chennai: NDA ally PMK on Friday termed as 'national insult' the Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha's demand for installing busts of Nathuram Godse in different locations in the country and urged the State and Central governments to nip this bid in the bud.
"If the bust of Godse is installed there can be no bigger national insult," PMK founder S Ramadoss said in a statement here.
"The State and Central governments should nip in the bud efforts to install the bust of Godse who killed Mahatma Gandhi," he urged.
Referring to a meet of the Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha at Dindigul in Tamil Nadu yesterday which resolved to install busts of Godse, he said this was very dangerous.
Hitting out at the BJP, he said Hindutva outfits had begun efforts to realise their long term goals with the "indirect support" of the rulers at the Centre.
The Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha recently triggered a fresh controversy by asking the Government to provide space for installing busts of Nathuram Godse at different locations in the country.
